For those who have not had the privilege of visiting the Agulhas Negras Military Academy - (AMAN) - we would like to offer the alternative of a visit through the pages of this site. Through the lenses of experienced photographers, we can see the splendid school whose sole mission is to prepare combat officers of the Brazilian Army for active duty.

The Academy is nestled into one of Brazil's most pleasant corners. It lies underneath the majestic peaks of the Agulhas Negras mouton range - from which it derives its name - and along the banks of the Paraíba do Sul river. Not far, are the quiet waters of Guanabara Bay to one side, and the rich plateau that overlooks the city of São Paulo (Brazil's economical capital) on the other.

The installations of the Military Academy are impressive and majestic. Despite the broad pergolas and lanes, it possesses comfortable lodgings and classrooms, a modern library and sports facilities. However, the most important feature of the school are the Cadets, young military students and future officers who will be the leading agents in the destiny of Brazil's Ground Forces.

The engagement with Brazil's geographic, social and economic reality is the basis for the teaching procedures, projecting a glorious future for the country among Nations. Its main concern is the need to prepare leaders of the Brazilian Army to help protect the national property, untouched for the future generations.

This site is a photographic tribute to the Academy. Their images tell everything.
